The exhibition:“Sensitive Matter: Young Catalan Architects”

Between 14th and 16th of January AEDES NETWORK CAMPUS BERLIN (ANCB) (Christinenstr.18-19, 10119 Berlin) displays the exhibition “Sensitive Matter: Young Catalan Architects” on current Catalan architecture.
The exhibition is opening the European project for the diffusion of young architecture, “Import /Export”, and shows the work of 10 studios between 30 and 40 years which share a common conceptual and material approach to architecture. This group of architects has a singular identity which is able to answer global architecture's present challenges, taking advantage of the local conditions (terrain and climate), and culture (constructive tradition, resources, values...).

The selected studios are: Arquitectures.Bosch.Capdeferro (Bet Capdeferro, Ramon Bosch); Núria Salvadó + David Tapias; DataAE (Claudi Aguiló, Albert Domingo); David Sebastian + Gerard Puig; Harquitectes (David Lorente, Josep Ricart, Xavier Ros, Roger Tudó); Emiliano López + Mónica Rivera; Francisco Cifuentes, Josep Bunyesc; TEd'A Arquitectes (Raimon Farré, Jaume Mayol, Irene Pérez) and unparelld'arquitectes (Eduard Callís, Guillem Moliné). Housing, public buildings or landscape are included.

Premiere for the textile editors at imm cologne in January 2011

The international furnishing show imm cologne is the new fair platform for the premium textile editors in Germany.
The decision has been made: the textile brands Création Baumann, Christian Fischbacher, Kinnasand, Nya Nordiska, Sahco, Zimmer + Rohde and JAB Anstoetz with Chivasso and Wellmann will stand side-by-side once again at a German trade fair in January 2011, exhibiting together for the very first time at the imm cologne.
Intensive dialogues with different German fair locations led the majority of textile editors to make a long-term commitment to Cologne.
The persuasive factors in the end were the pioneering exhibition concept PURE TEXTILE, the target group orientation and relevance for the future, the brand environment and the fair’s premium marketing strategy.
The participation of the textiles editors at imm cologne is planned for every two years on a long-term basis.

Domestic Ponds

At Galerie BSL from 17th September to 27th November 2010, Duende Studio is proposing ‘Domestic Ponds,’ a piece of work about the pond as a domestic water point, with three new pieces by Mathieu Lehanneur, Benjamin Graindorge and Eric Jourdan.

The water, overflowing with nutrients, drawn from the bottom of the garden, irrigates as well as fertilises the vegetable garden.

This practice is pushed to its limit with aquaponic agriculture allowing the symbiosis of fish and plants. The plants are nourished by the fish water full of nitrate-rich waste. The plants therefore play the role of natural filter by retaining the nitrates and assist in maintaining balanced water for the fish.
For two years, Duende Studio has been developing a work of adaptation of the principle of aquaponics in the domestic world, with two prototypes produced with Mathieu Lehanneur (‘Local River,’ 2008) and Benjamin Graindorge (‘Floating Garden,’ 2009). Today, the research and experimentation process has been taken even further, with a three piece limited edition series presented and edited by Galerie BSL. Three new projects the functioning of which requires minimum maintenance by the user, by three designers who each impose a radical plastic interpretation of the pond for three foundation stones of a new domestic typology. A metaphoric ecosystem of our way of living, that is, a closed world whose primary problem is the management of its own waste, for which the series ‘Domestic Ponds’ formally and technically brings the most successfully completed response.
